HOUSTON – The Houston Design Center is pleased to host a dynamic line up of talent for Design in Bloom presented by Flower Magazine on Tuesday, May 18. Held in conjunction with Texas Design Week Houston, the third annual spring event features an inspiring panel discussion with renowned interior designer and author Ray Booth, award-winning architect and author Bobby McAlpine, innovative floral designer and author Laura Dowling, and celebrated landscape designer and author Keith Williams. The presentation will be moderated by Margot Shaw, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Flower Magazine.
Throughout the day, guests are invited to attend individual presentations, demonstrations, and book signings with Ray Booth and Bobby McAlpine at James Craig Furnishings; Keith Williams at Thorntree Slate & Marble; and Laura Dowling at Leisure Collections. The festivities will conclude at an evening reception with Ray Booth at the new Hickory Chair showroom and Meredith O’Donnell Fine Furniture, exclusively for Design in Bloom or Texas Design Week ticket holders.

Ray Booth is an interior design partner with McALPINE, a residential architecture and interior design firm. Ray’s work has received significant recognition from the nation’s most prestigious publications. He is the author of Evocative Interiors, his bestselling first book published by Rizzoli. Architect | Atlanta, GA
As one of the most respected architects in America, Bobby McAlpine is a romantic, poet, and entrepreneur. He founded McALPINE in 1983, which today is comprised of brilliant architects and interior designers located in Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and New York. Bobby is also the author of two books including the critically acclaimed best-selling book, The Home Within Us and Poetry of Place. He is also the co-author of Art of the House.

Washington-based Laura Dowling served as Chief Floral Designer for the White House from 2009 until 2015. In this role, her renowned floral designs graced Camp David, the Presidential private residence, and thousands of official and private events. Outside of the White House, Dowling’s designs have been featured in magazines, HGTV and on her own collection of USPS stamps. As partner and lead designer at Nievera Williams landscape architecture firm, Keith Williams has played an integral role in commercial and residential landscape projects across the world. Born and raised in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Williams discovered his passion for design at young age.
